THE derelict former National School in Bromsgrove's Crown Close could be brought back to life as a culture and social centre for the town, it was revealed. The district council was considering putting in a bid to buy the vandalised building, which closed nine years ago when pupils moved to Watt Close.
RUBERY Rotary Club celebrated its 75th anniversary with a lunch at the Chalet Inn at Rednal. The special guest was district council chairman Geoff Bache.
SOME 600 residents in Belbroughton put their names to a petition to try to halt the building of a 'dry pit' poultry house capable of holding 20,000 laying birds at Hollies Hill. They claimed their lives would be blighted by smells and vermin. A further 550 customers at the Four Winds restaurant had also objected to the plan which had been deposited with Bromsgrove District Council.
