FORMER Scout master Ken Davis remembers well the visit by TV presenter John Noakes, pictured in Malvern Memories last week.
He said: "We went and built the bonfire on the Saturday and we were all up there in the pouring rain, waiting for John Noakes to come up and then they decided it was too wet to film."
The Scouts reconvened the following Monday, the fire was lit and the filming done, but then the fire brigade appeared with sirens wailing. No-one had warned them the bonfire had been postponed and someone in town thought the cafe was on fire and called them.
"Then when it appeared on TV it was only on for about 45 seconds," said Mr Davis.
