MUSIC lovers are being given a unique opportunity to enjoy a one-off singing performance in the spectacular surroundings of a Worcestershire church.
Singing group Lyrica will be performing in the Chapel of the Beauchamp Community - St Leonard's Church - Newland, near Malvern, to help raise funds for the church organ restoration fund.
The lead singer and Lyrica's director Elizabeth Glen, who has sung at some of the world's most prestigious venues in New York, Melbourne and London, is taking time out of her professional schedule to help St Leonard's. She is friends with a member of the congregation and volunteered to do the concert.
Organist and choirmaster Charles Allsopp said: "This is a scoop for us. This concert should be in every music lovers 'not to be missed' diary. I don't think we'll get these singers here again. It is also an opportunity for people to see this wonderful church. It is filled with stunning frescos. It is a gem."
The organ, a Nicholson built in the 1860s in Worcester, requires restoration to the tune of several thousand pounds, added Mr Allsopp.
The concert takes place on Saturday, October 22, at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Mr Allsopp by ringing 01684 579186 from 2.30pm-5.30pm.
