AT Droitwich Town Council, a surveyor reported a new way to keep down dust and binding certain sections of the road affected by the recent dry spell. Parts of Bromsgrove Road, Worcester Road and Ombersley Street had been dressed with ground salt obtained from the Salt Union. The chairman suggested that if it proved successful it might be advantageous to issue a leaflet on it. It was also suggested that brine should be used as it was less expensive.
Jesson Price, from Wildmoor, was charged with the illegal employment of schoolchildren. A school attendance officer said he saw a boy, the defendant's grandson, employed bedding down strawberries with straw. He reminded the defendant he had warned him previously as to the boy's frequent absence from school. Price replied that the lad was a big boy now and could do as much work as a man. The boy had made 57 attendances out of 112 so had not made enough to qualify for exemption at 13. The defendant was fined 10s (50p) and 5s 6d costs (27.5p).
Bromsgrove firefighters were summoned to the Black Cross, in Worcester Street. Thirteen men attended with the manual engine to the fire, which was in the loft forming part of the rear building. A quantity of hay and brewing utensils had been stored in the loft. After three hours the firemen left. The blaze caused about £60 damage and the cause was unknown.
George Stanton, aged 40, a labourer from Little Lane, appeared in court to answer summons charging him with being drunk. PC Court said the defendant was leaning against a wall and when he went to move he fell down. The defendant expressed sorrow stating he had been out of work for a long time and had just got a job. He was fined 2s 6d (12.5p) and 5s 6d (27.5p) costs.
