A GIANT pumpkin might have earned two Kidderminster schoolchildren a spot on a popular television gardening show.
Emma and James Bendall, entered their monster vegetable, which weighs 37 kilos, in the BBC Gardeners' World Pumpkin Trial.
Viewers were asked to send an e-mail to the BBC2 show with details of their pumpkins and whether or not they measured up to the claims made on the seed packets.
Eight-year-old Emma and James, five, have been told the pumpkin, which is one of four the pair have grown, is one of the heaviest in the country.
A production team from Gardeners' World filmed the children in their garden on Tuesday last week.
Their mother, Mary, said the children, who began growing their pumpkins in June, are hoping to be on the programme on Friday, October 14.
She added: "There were three different types you could grow. We chose the sort that grows the most. We have always grown fruit and vegetables in the garden. It has been great. Pumpkins are a fun thing for children to grow. They have been watering them and measuring them once a week."
The children will take their pumpkins to their school's harvest festival tomorrow and Emma, who is a member of the Brownies, will take them to the pack's Hallowe'en party later this month.
