PARISH COUNCIL: Notes from the parish council meeting on September 26:
Bus stop - northern travel direction: It was confirmed that extra hard standing was to be laid. After much discussion it was agreed that there should be no bus shelter in such a sensitive area.
Parish Plan: Mrs Brown was scheduling a series of meetings to discus the plan.
Station Road verge damage: A meeting is still to be arranged with Cropthorne PC and Charlton PC to discuss traffic through the village.
Fladbury crossroads/A44: The council is to be asked to carry out a noise footprint study in order to highlight the cats-eyes problem on the A44.
Football: The chairman informed the meeting that there would only be one team using the pitch this season.
Mowing: It was pointed out that overgrowth on the wharf, near the entrance, needed attention.
Recreation ground benches: It was agreed to go ahead with low-cost replanking of the benches.
District councillor's report: Cllr Meikle reported concerns over proposals nationwide for the Health Service to consolidate PCTs and Ambulance Services, which could have a detrimental effect on local services, particularly the current issue at Evesham. There was to be a three- month consultation period with a decision due in March 2006 and could see Worcestershire's three PCTs reduced to one and the Ambulance Service becoming regional rather than county based.
The recent delivery of a quarterly supply of rubbish and recycling bags should have been provided. If anyone had not received theirs they should contact WDC to complain in order that future deliveries were correct.
Lighting: It was reported that the light fitting outside the church had been replaced and was a vast improvement in the conservation area. A new light had been erected in Broadway Lane and it was expected to be connected within two weeks.
Footpaths: The Jubilee Bridge footpath was overgrown as well as others and the community service were to be asked to see if they could do this work as the WCC had withdrawn the second cut normally provided. A temporary notice of closure covering Butcher's Walk and Anchor Lane had been issued due to major unevenness caused by tree roots.
Church lighting: It was agreed to continue the search for funding.
Next meeting: Monday, October 31 at 7.30pm in the sports pavilion.
