PARISH COUNCIL: The monthly meeting was held in King George's Hall, chaired by Cllr M Stowe.

The parking problems around the Plantation remain unsolved. The clerk will write again to the highways department. County councillor J Girling added that if the councillors thought that yellow lines would help, they should make a direct application for them.

Cllr Girling gave her report. The school site is said to be three weeks ahead in its development process. Work on the housing site could begin in November.

A Christmas carol service will be held at the Plantation. The usual band to play carols will be sought and the date fixed afterwards. The collection will be for the Air Ambulance. As Mickleton won the Bledisloe Cup, the prize money will be spent on the Christmas tree and more new lights.

After a lengthy discussion it was still undecided as to where to display the cup, because the hall was found unsuitable. Some years ago it had been displayed in a shop and the proprietors will be asked if they will do so again.

A request was made for councillors to have a stall at the King George's Hall bazaar in November. Only one or two councillors appeared enthusiastic.

Litter in the junior playing fields remains a problem. A bin from outside the Manor will be moved to the field in the hope it will be used. It was thought that older children were responsible for the litter. Councillors will speak to them.

New equipment for the young ones has almost been agreed. It will consist of new swings and slides.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 26 at 7.30pm.
