MEMBERS of the Wyre Forest Gymnastics School did themselves proud at the West Midland Levels Championships at Birmingham Sports Centre last weekend.

After their grades scores had been added Hannah Wilson and Kathryn Deeley finished fourth and fifth respectively in the In Age Level Three competition for 10-year-olds.

Their scores of 26.75 and 24.075 were enough to gain them reserve spots for the West Midlands team that go to the National Finals in Guildford on November 5.

In the Level Four In Age competition, Jessica Mills finished 15th out of 24 with a score of 21.7.

Annabelle Scott and Jessica Atkinson scored 23.4 and 21.85 in the Level Two In Age competition.

Hannah Pietkowicz was forced to withdraw from the Senior FIG despite trying to battle on following a fall on the floor during the Regional Championships for Modified and Full Code gymnasts.

But her Wyre Forest colleagues flew the club's flag in the Modified FIG, with Alice Pretty settling for fourth place after just missing out on bronze with a score of 25.93.

Gemma Beddows was sixth with 25.267, Abbie Yapp was seventh with 25.066 and Chloe Jagpal was eighth with 24.266.

In the Out of Age Level Three section, Pete Millard was 11th with 22.9, Lydia Harrington was 13th with 22.3 and Jade Hooper was 15th with 21.65.

In the Out of Age Level Four section, Kelly Brookes was sixth in the 12 + age group with 23.75, while Rebecca Hammersley scored 20.35 in her first Level Four competition in the 10/11 age group.

The girls train 10-15 hours a week at Baxter College where their coach Ann Combes holds classes for all ages and abilities.
