POLICE hope a woman who might have found stolen property will come forward to help inquiries.
A burglary was carried out at a house in Leswell Street, Kidderminster, between midnight and 1am on Saturday after a man went to bed leaving the back door unlocked for his wife, who was out.
At 10.30am the next day, the couple received a phone call from a woman asking if they owned a bag which she had found.
The wife, who did not speak fluent English, misunderstood and thought the caller was asking if they had left some belongings at a previous address.
Only later did the couple realise a burglary had taken place and a sports bag was missing. It contained a pair of men's black Reebok shoes, cosmetics in a red Yves Rocher bag, a Nikon camera and a dark green camera case.
Police have appealed to the woman who found the bag to contact them on 08457 444888, the same number for anyone who may have information.
