STOURPORT Swifts chairman Chris Reynolds has hit back at Dave Titterton after the former Walshes Meadow boss fired a parting shot at the club following his resignation last week.
Titterton accused Swifts of lacking ambition and suggested the Southern League Division One West outfit was shambolic before he took charge.
But Reynolds - who insists he remains friends with Titterton - has dismissed the departing manager's comments as sour grapes.
Chairman Reynolds hinted that Titterton "beat us to it" when he handed in his notice minutes before a committee meeting to discuss his future two weeks ago.
"To say the club was shambolic and we didn't have any ambition is totally wrong and I don't know what Dave is trying to achieve by saying that," said the Swifts supremo.
"The reason we got rid of the manager is because we are ambitious and because we do want to move forward.
"Dave was hardworking and did a good job and I'll still have a pint with him, but what he's said is totally wrong.
"By appointing Roy Rencher with his record of bringing through young players we are looking to the future and trying to progress."
Rencher missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Swindon Supermarine because of a pre-booked holiday which will also keep him away from this weekend's visit to Brackley Town and Tuesday's home clash against Paulton Rovers.
