Littleton 5, Kenilworth 2
LITTLETON played host to the side at the bottom of the Midland Combination first division table and there was nothing between the teams in the first half.
The visitors won the toss and elected to kick with the wind at their backs and also with the advantage of the low sun. It took them just 12 minutes to take the lead when Lee Morris turned quickly and netted from 15 yards.
Littleton equalised immediately when Steve Brown pulled the ball back for Simon Brain to net from close-range.
Ten minutes later, Kenilworth regained the lead through a powerful shot from James Knott but the sides were quickly level again when Matt Staley drew the keeper and calmly slipped the ball from an acute angle into the empty goal.
Two thundering volleys from Brown came close to making it 3-2 but the first effort struck the bar and the second was tipped over.
The second half was all Littleton and it was only a matter of time before they scored although they had to wait 20 minutes until Brain, who was excellent throughout, hit a sublime pass to put Staley through and he a powerful drive did the rest.
The striker completed a fine hat-trick five minutes later when he soared above the defence to head home Brain's free-kick.
It was the provider himself who deservedly rounded off the scoring following a cross from the left by Wilmot.
The game was sponsored by Tony Clarke.
Littleton are on cup duty on Saturday at Loughborough, ko 2.45pm.
