BEWDLEY Town boss Craig Payton was full of praise for his team after two outstanding performances got their West Midland League Premier Division campaign back on track.

Successive 4-1 victories over Pelsall Villa and Wednesfield have catapulted Payton's players up to fourth.

"They gave us two good results and proved they are just as good in this league as any other team," he said.

"The feedback from loyal supporters has been fantastic, and hopefully all the locals will support us in this tough league."

Last Wednesday Bewdley braved atrocious wet weather to beat Pelsall Villa.

In-form strikers Lewis Pountney and Jamie Hart both bagged braces, while keeper Steve Thomas returned from suspension.

And they beat Wednesfield by the same scoreline on Saturday.

Pountney and Hart were on target again with goals either side of a double by Gavin Smith.

Bewdley hope to continue their recent revival when they visit Dudley Town at 1pm on Saturday before they host Shawbury United at Walshes Meadow at 7.45pm next Wednesday.

Bewdley Town Reserves have a goalkeeping dilemma ahead of Saturday's home game with Sedgley Town.

Boss Rich Downing has signed stopper Steve Parker from Bridgnorth, while Aaron O'Malley has expressed an interest in returning after limited chances at Stourbridge.

They have also snapped up Ledbury's left wing speed machine Russell Godfrey.

Bewdley were involved in an eight-goal thriller at Wednesbury, sharing the spoils in a 4-4 draw.

Substitute Dan Franklin scored twice while Gary Middleton and John Griffin were also on target.

They entertain Sedgeley Town at 2.45pm on Saturday at Ribbesford Meadows.

In the U18 Floodlight League, Bewdley's youngsters returned from Darlaston with a 2-1 win.
