WINGER Tony Vale's winner was enough to fire Chaddesley Corbett to second in West Midlands League Division Two with victory over Brereton Town.
Vale's fierce rocket from the edge of the box following a slick move early in the second half brightened up the game after a dull opening.
Chaddesley's cause was helped when Brereton's best player, Mark Jones, was shown the red card for dissent.
The home side wasted several opportunities to score again, and late in the match Brereton almost equalised when Mark Daley capitalised upon a defensive mistake but was denied by Corbett keeper Gary Moore.
Manager Martin Westcott was pleased with his team's fifth win in succession, saying: "The team spirit is growing, we are playing with confidence, and I was able to leave good players on the bench.
"I felt we needed a little bit of magic to crack Bereton, and Tony Vale supplied that magic.
"He is a good player, and when he has played a few more matches, and learns when to release the ball, he will become an excellent player.
"Tony has already scored six times from the right wing."
Striker Craig Pratt has signed for Premier Division Bromyard Town, taking the number of former Chaddesley players at Bromyard to six.
Westcott has signed Matt Baynton from Bewdley Town, and Rednal-based Lee Strain has returned to Chaddesley.
On Saturday they visit Shenstone Pathfinders v Chaddesley Corbett, kick-off 2.45pm.
