IMRAN Yousaf scored twice as Stourport Men's Firsts began their National Division North campaign in scintilating style with a 6-2 victory over Harrogate.
Peter Gibbins, Chris Griffiths, Marc Edwards and Irfan Yousaf were also on target.
Stourport Women's Firsts began their Midland Conference season with a 3-1 win at Wellingborough.
Wellingborough began brightly but Stourport's defenders held steady with Harriet Burns making numerous tackles.
Stourport went ahead when Louise Deeman's run set up Melissa Kennedy.
The lead was increased when Fran Moss struck a short corner to the far post for Kerry Walker.
Stourport kept possession well in the second-half and made it 3-0 with Kennedy finding Walker who fired the ball into the top corner.
Wellingborough came straight back and scored following a short corner. The hosts should have made it 3-2, but player-of-the-match Moss saved on the goal line.
On Saturday they entertain Birmingham University at Kingsway.
The Seconds had to dig deep for a 3-2 Worcestershire Division One victory at Harborne Thirds.
Harborne made it difficult for their visitors, frustrating Stourport by preventing them from playing their normal hockey. However, Stourport still took the lead after 25 minutes. A cross from Alex Totney found Georgina Burns at the far post to make it 1-0.
Four minutes later, a carbon copy cross by Totney allowed Wilma Martin to double the advantage. Harborne pulled a goal back two minutes before half-time.
The hosts equalised shortly after the break before Stourport once again took the lead when, following a short corner, Sarah Cavendish flicked the ball home.
Two goals each for Rosie Connolly, Teri Baron and Jessica Trundle saw the Thirds eventually beat Badsey 6-2.
In a frantic start, Badsey took the lead in the second minute but Connolly levelled 60 seconds later.
Connolly scored her second shortly afterwards, although she later retired injured.
Baron extended the hosts' lead on 20 minutes, but Badsey were back in it at 3-2 at half-time.
The visitors' 'keeper, having made a number of saves, was left helpless as player-of-the-match Trundle made it 4-2. Trundle added another following a short corner.
Baron rounded off the scoring two minutes from time.
The Fourths gained an easy three points when visitors Kings Heath conceded their Worcestershire Division Three fixture.
