NEWLY-PROMOTED Droitwich Spa Men's Firsts cannot wait for their new season to start this weekend.

Paul Atkinson's side had a free date on the fixture list last Saturday due to an odd number of teams in the West Midlands Premier.

Instead, they warmed-up with a 4-4 friendly draw with Jaguar Coventry at their Salwarpe Valley base.

But they are raring to build on last season's promotion when they travel to Solihull Blossomfield, 6-0 conquerors of Evesham on the opening day.

Captain Atkinson is looking forward to the challenge and has every confidence his side can do themselves justice.

He said: "We are chomping at the bit and are ready to go. They (Solihull) had a good win on Saturday, they are in form.

"We have had some good results in the friendly games we played in the build-up so we are more than capable of doing quite well."

Atkinson has the luxury of a full strength squad to choose from for Saturday's game.
