THIS show took its Wolverhampton audience back to a time when flares, platform shoes and disco music ruled the dance floors.
The stage adaptation of the groundbreaking 1977 film featured all the Bee Gees' hit songs that captured the atmosphere of the era.
The familiar sounds of Stayin' Alive, Night Fever and Jive Talkin' were accompanied by mesmerising dance moves.
It belted along at such a fast pace that by the end of the night most people watching the show felt a little short of breath themselves.
The story follows Brooklyn youth, Tony Manero, made famous by John Travolta in the film, on his quest to be king of the disco dance floor while becoming increasingly disillusioned with his life.
It was obvious that Sean Mulligan, who played the role of Tony, was made for the part, which demanded charisma and athleticism in equally large doses.
He joined the touring company after starring in the successful West End production and that could explain how naturally the role seemed to come to him.
The entire cast should receive praise for bringing to life the classic songs and managing to last the astonishing pace that started from the opening curtain.
Shaun Williamson, better known for his role as Barry in EastEnders, received the biggest cheer of the night for his performance as DJ Monty.
His Disco Duck dance moves epitomised the hilarious character. Anybody of a nervous disposition is warned that the sight is not for the faint-hearted. PW
