GREEN boxes mean a greener Wychavon is the district council's message to residents in the Vale as new boxes for recycling glass appear on their doorsteps.
The boxes are being delivered to 73 per cent of homes that will benefit from the glass recycling scheme.
In each box are full instructions explaining how the extra service works, resulting in an extra 1,000 tonnes of waste being recycled each year.
The boxes full of glass bottles and jars of any colour will be collected every fortnight on usual refuse collection days.
Collections start in some areas on October 17 and will be rolled out to all homes in the scheme by November.
Wychavon's client service manager Sharon Casswell said: "Glass makes up to seven per cent of glass that can be recycled and the great news is that it is 100 per cent recyclable, unlike some other materials where there is a degree of waste."
She added: "Those who are part of the scheme should already have had a letter and can now look out for the green boxes and instructions as they are delivered."
Details of the glass recycling scheme will soon be seen on the sides of buses.
