I WAS reading with interest about the possible plans for the closure and relocation of the fire stations in Worcester, Malvern and Droitwich.
I can see the logic with the plans for the Worcester station to be moved out of the city centre and to have two stations instead of just one. I cannot comment on the Malvern station as I am not familiar with the Malvern area, but to waste money on a new station to replace the Droitwich one is ludicrous.
Our station is already within easy reach of the motorway but is also well sited for the expanding town of Droitwich. It is also near the busy A38, the A442 and industrial areas and the A4133.
It does not make sense to relocate Droitwich fire station to a site out of Droitwich and nearer to the motorway, when one of the proposed Worcester stations near to the motorway and Warndon Villages would cover this. Why waste taxpayers' money?
