MEMBERS of Areley Kings Friendship Club had a "royal" surprise when they staged their own Buckingham Palace-style tea party.
Stourport Carnival queen, Rebekah Crowther, made an unexpected visit and helped add to the regal atmosphere in the village hall.
Sunday best attire was the order of the day when the club hosted a talk from Doreen Oliver about her experiences at a garden party in the royal grounds.
Twenty-eight members got into the spirit of the occasion and enjoyed tea in china cups, cakes and cucumber sandwiches.
The village hall was patriotically decorated with Union Flags and flowers were placed on the stage to give the occasion a realistic feel.
The club, which meets fortnightly at the hall, now has about 30 members after growing from a small gathering in a front room.
