A 3ft wide pumpkin described as the "oddest" donation ever made to a Kidderminster charity shop is to be the subject of a guess the weight competition later this month.
Staff at the British Red Cross shop in Coventry Street, Kidderminster, are hoping to raise funds by charging people to guess the weight of the vast vegetable, which is being stored in a garage until it can be transported to the shop by wheelbarrow.
There will be a prize of £20 for the most accurate guess and the pumpkin will be on display in the Swan Centre on Saturday, October 15.
It can be seen at the charity shop at other times.
Rose Davis, who works there, said: "We've had some unusual donations in the past but this is definitely the oddest."
Adding the pumpkin was "far too heavy for one person to pick up", she said: "I'm hoping that a hotel or another business which is having a Hallowe'en event will make a donation and have the pumpkin.
"It could be used in a display or to make soup, because you could probably make gallons and gallons of it."

The people who grew it have asked to remain anonymous.
