THE Greig Memorial Hall is a step closer to having a new kitchen and toilets after a successful fundraiser.
Greig Centre manager Stacy Robinson said a benefit night held last month had raised more than £1,000 and Advantage Alcester would be matching the money.
"We also wrote letters to all the major companies on the Arden Trading Estate - we have had cash donations from Marla Tube Fittings, Three Counties Insurance, while Jewson, and Landsdon Flooring have agreed to donate 45sq m of vinyl flooring," he said.
"All in all, the benefit night was a huge success so it looks like we are very close to meeting our budget."
Mr Robinson said they could now go to the tendering phase and get contractors to come and quote for the work, which could begin as early as this month.
He added: "Hopefully, by the end of November we should have a brand new, shiny kitchen and toilets in the memorial hall."
