IT amazes me how people get away with it. We have our green bin and our recycling boxes forced upon us, yet I am amazed at the amount of people who actually don't bother recycling their household waste.
Time and time again I see the same families with children placing none of the boxes out or the green bin for recycling on collection day. So what happens to all their plastic, cans, bottles, textiles and newspapers, let alone the garden waste that has mounted up over a fortnight?
It all goes into their grey waste bins no doubt.
I am part of a family of five and quite frankly I wasn't happy when this recycling lark was forced upon us, but it had to be done. Come recycling day usually my green bin is out and my three boxes full to bursting point. It's easy to tell who recycles and who doesn't.
It is simply those families that don't put them out on the day.
Well I think the council should check who has the boxes out on collection day and who doesn't. Those that don't should have their grey bins checked come emptying day. Why should those that don't recycle get away with it. There are simply no excuses.
