THE first ever book event for Worcester-born author Charlie Williams, is to be held in the city, later this month.
The 33-year-old will be reading from his just-published first novel Deadfolk (Serpent's Tail, £7.99) and talking about how he became a published author.
Charlie, pictured right, read English at Swansea University and during a brief visit home was arrested after fighting with a bouncer and bound over for six months. He moved to London, but returned to Worcester last year.
He has written short stories for small press magazines.
Told in a West Country vernacular, Deadfolk is a cross between TV's Little Britain and The League of Gentleman. Set in a one-horse town it is peopled by no-hopers and theives.
Said Simon Drakeford, events manager at Ottaker's, The Shambles, Worcester, where the event will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, June 29: "Deadfolk will be one of the funniest, most original books you read this summer."
Tickets for the evening cost £2 from the shop, include light refreshments and there is £1 off the price of the book if purchased on the night.
