RUGBY fans flocked to Woodrush RFC last week to catch a glimpse of the Rugby World Cup.
Children from a number of local schools were among those to have their pictures taken with the Webb Ellis Trophy which was part of the Sweet Chariot Exhibition Tour that rolled into the Wythall club on Wednesday. The exhibition also contained the Calcutta Cup and the ball which Jonny Wilkinson kicked to land his historic conversion.
Woodrush chairman Brian Smart said: "The Cup was sited in our club lounge along with three RFU security guards in attendance all day.
"Children from Coppice Primary, Woodrush High and Meadow Green were among those who had photographs taken with the World Cup and took part in mini coaching classes."
Local residents and players from neighbouring clubs had their chance to see the trophy during the evening and also admire Woodrush's own display of memorabilia spanning nearly 40 years.
