Dunlop 50 Alcester 0
Warwickshire One
ALCESTER sit rooted to the foot of the table after a comprehensive defeat in Coventry to an impressive looking Dunlop side who have found a back line full of youth, creativity and pace, to add to their always competitive pack.
Alcester competed well up front and won at least their fair share of possession at the set phases. But their much changed side failed to retain the ball and were always outnumbered at the breakdown.
Dunlop scored eight tries, converting five of them, and restricted Alcester to just a handful of scoring chances.
They did have two penalty attempts at goal but replacement kicker Chris Hall, was just wide on both occasions.
Skipper Nick O'Connor, voted Alcester's man of the match by Dunlop, accepted his team had been beaten by a strong side and one certain to feature strongly in the promotion shake-up.
Alcester will now regroup ahead of next week's crucial encounter at home to fellow strugglers Pinley, another side looking for their first points of the season.
Alcester 2nds ran out 36-7 winners at home to Dunlop 2nds. Tries came from Dave Doctor, Ian O'Dell, Darren Silverbeard, Gary Jilks, Andy Smith and Damien Webb. Silverbeard converted three of the scores.
