A DISABLED Studley man is having his garden made over by big-hearted members of two town organisations.
Redditch Lions and the town branch of the Prince's Trust have joined forces to turn the wheelchair-bound resident's garden into a horticultural haven.
The resident, who did not wish to be named, contacted the Lions after the garden at the back of his bungalow became unmanageable.
Lions' spokesman Phil Lawrence said: "He is in a wheelchair so mowing the lawn is impossible.
"The height of the grass and the shrubbery was overtaking the whole garden."
The Lions enlisted the help of the Where Next Association, based in Wellesbourne Close, to help clear the garden - a task which took two days.
"However, after the clearance had taken place, we needed someone to help make the garden wheelchair-friendly, but this is not something Where Next was able to offer and we couldn't do it ourselves," said Mr Lawrence.
But after reading in the Advertiser that members of the Prince's Trust were looking for community projects to get their teeth into, a partnership was formed.
The group of youngsters working for the trust, known as "Team 83", have been working hard to raise funds to carry out the work. They have already held a car wash at B&Q in Jinnah Road and a bag-packing event at Morrisons supermarket in Bromsgrove.
"At the car wash the young people raised £91, which is excellent," added Mr Lawrence.
"We are also hoping that town businesses may offer donations of money, or gardening materials."
Anyone wishing to make a donation can call Mr Lawrence on 459621 or the Prince's Trust on 07789 754 114.
