POLICE have issued a description of a man they would like to question in connection with a spate of bag snatches in Redditch.
The man is thought to be about 18 years old, white and with a slim build. He wears a cap and dark jacket and trousers.
Redditch police believe he is responsible for a number of bag snatches in the town over the last few weeks.
DS Graham Mitchel said: "In each case, the description of the offender is similar and we believe the same male to be responsible for all the incidents."
The most recent incident was last Tuesday at about 12.30pm when a woman in her 80s had her bag snatched as she walked along Sycamore Avenue in Southcrest.
The offender ran off with the black bag, containing the woman's purse and keys, down an alleyway leading back up towards Mount Pleasant. She was shaken but otherwise unhurt.
DS Mitchel added: "Over the last two weeks we have had a cluster of incidents in this area where women walking along by themselves have had their bags snatched from them.
"This type of offence increases the fear of crime significantly and it is vital we catch this man."
He urged all residents to be on their guard and anyone with information to get in touch.
Witnesses can call 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
