ADVERTISER readers are being invited to help create a unique piece of artwork which will become a focal point at the Palace Theatre when it re-opens after its refurbishment.
Steven Cartwright, 30, from Alcester, has been commissioned to create a stained glass window for the theatre and would like readers to help design it.
He is asking residents to write in with their memories of plays and actors they have seen at the Alcester Street venue over the years, for inclusion on the glass.
Mr Cartwright hopes the design for the glass, measuring 2.2 metres by half a metre will be complete later this month.
Following the approval of architects, work will start on the glass in early November.
"This is an extremely exciting project and I really want the people of Redditch to get involved in it," said Mr Cartwright.
"I am asking them to jot down the name of a really good play or performance they watched there, or even a famous actor or actress they saw at the Palace.
"They could also add the year they saw them, if they can remember.
"I will then take these names and incorporate the text into the finished design so the people of the town really will have played their part in the creation of this art work."
Mr Cartwright, who is originally from Redditch, is currently in the process of setting up his glass studio business in Longbarn Village, Alcester.
Suggestions for inclusion on the stained glass window should be marked for the attention of Helen Clarke and sent to the Redditch Advertiser, Yorkshire Bank Chambers, 7 Unicorn Hill, Redditch B97 4QR.
