SWEDISH sex siren and ex- Bond girl Britt Ekland is to star in a Worcester panto.
She has been signed up to play Fairy Kindheart, replacing veteran Carry On actress Liz Fraser, who pulled out of December's production of Jack And The Beanstalk at the Swan Theatre just over a week ago.
The two women have the same agent and after Ms Fraser withdrew, citing personal circumstances, Ms Ekland's name was put forward. When she was sent pictures of Worcester and told about the Swan she jumped at the chance to spend five weeks in the Faithful City.
Her character will be less comical than the planned Fairy Stinkerbell, which has meant a slight alteration to the script.
Today in London, the director of Huntingdon Arts, Chris Jaeger, is due to meet with Ms Ekland, aged 62, who was once married to comic legend Peter Sellers.
Ms Ekland said: "I'm very excited to be coming to Worcester to play the Fairy in the Swan Theatre's production of Jack And The Beanstalk.
"I've played many parts in pantomime over the years but always love the role of the panto fairy and can't wait to meet the cast and crew behind this show.
"I understand Worcester is a beautiful city and I very much look forward spending five weeks there."
A delighted Mr Jaeger said: "We're looking forward to a very busy panto season and having an actress of Britt's calibre is a fantastic boost not only to the theatre but also for the cast and crew.
"Worcester should be proud to have attracted a name such as Britt and I hope everyone will make her feel welcome whilst she stays in our city."
Ms Ekland is due in Worcester at the end of November for two weeks of rehearsals. The opening night is on Wednesday, December 7.
