WESTFIELDS put aside their disappointing league form to take the city derby honours over Pegasus Juniors in the FA Vase second qualifying round.
The first FA competition game between the two sides since 1992 drew 202 supporters and was won 3-0 by hard-working Westfields.
Pegasus were beaten by the better team on the day but the scoreline did not quite do them justice.
Westfields' leading scorer Mark Davis bagged a brace and club skipper Mark Hibbard added the other in a keenly-fought clash.
The hosts, playing against a strong wind in the first-half, had an early chance but Davis lobbed goalkeeper Jamie Hales just wide of the upright.
Pegasus had their moments but Leigh Harris and Ben Price both failed to convert good openings.
Harris shot straight at 'keeper Jon Pugh from Daniel Sobocinski's cross and Price fired just over from Chris Mortlock's cross before firing a snap-shot narrowly wide.
However, straight after the break, Westfields broke the deadlock when former Pegasus striker Davis cut inside his marker and beat Hales with a shot at the far post to put the home side ahead.
The visitors countered when Jamie Cuss set Mortlock free on the right and Harris met the cross with his head but Pugh made a good save to deny him.
Westfields enjoyed a good spell in an end-to-end game and Hibbard fired home a shot in off the post after good work by Paul Burton on 55 minutes.
Pegasus tried to hit back and Jon Pugh held onto a stinging drive by Mortlock, while Lewis Jones also called the goalkeeper into action.
Westfields sent on subs Matt Morris and Derek Craddock in place of Chris King and Burton to add fresh legs.
And the move paid off when Davis scored with a thundering header in the 89th minute from Morris' corner.
Pegasus worked hard but failed to get the better of a Westfields defence, including the outstanding Wayne Hoskins.
Meanwhile, Westfields' Midland Alliance Cup tie at home to Oldbury United on Saturday has been moved forward to 2pm due to England's game with Austria.
Pegasus' GLS Hellenic League Premier Division trip to Hungerford Town will also kick-off at 2pm.
