LIVE-WIRE winger Leon Hopkins scored a hat-trick of tries as Droiwich Spa produced a top performance to crush Marconi Coventry 31-0 in Midlands Four West (South).
Playing into a strong first-half wind, Droitwich, who lost to Worcester Wanderers in their previous match, adopted a policy of keeping the ball in hand and getting it wide whenever possible.
A quick ball to winger Leon Hopkins produced Spa's opener. Hopkins took the ball in his own half, chipped ahead to gather and outpace the defence for a fine solo effort. Matt Blackmore added the conversion.
Shortly after, number eight Jimmy Richardson went over from 15 metres.
After the interval, Droitwich used the wind to their advantage.
A poor clearance was charged down by skipper Nick Godfrey for Blackmore to seize on the loose ball and score under the posts.
Hopkins added a second following a flowing move and completed his hat-trick following confusion in the Marconi defence. Blackmore added a penalty to stretch Spa's lead.
Jon Andrews was held up short in the closing stages for veteran prop Greg Garfield to power over from short range. Blackmore converted.
