AN airman who was captured by the Iraqis during the Gulf War and paraded on worldwide television is coming to Hereford to talk about his experiences.
Flt Lt John Peters' Tornado was shot down on the first day of the Gulf War in January 1991 and the sight of his bruised and battered face on television became a symbol of the conflict.
Mr Peters, who has since written a book on the ordeal, called Tornado Down, will be coming to The Courtyard arts centre on Wednesday, October 5, to talk about his experiences of torture and interrogation during the war.
His story of inner turmoil and strength will focus on his will to survive and his dramatic experiences of Operation Desert Storm.
As well as writing Tornado Down, which received The Independent Documentary of the Year and a BAFTA Award nomination, he has written two other best-selling books and is renowned for his inspirational and enthusiastic speeches.
Tickets for An Audience With John Peters are available from The Courtyard box office for £12.50 (concessions £11.50).
