ANGRY workers have been left short of cash after a delay in paying their wages.
Rentokil Initial UK Cleaning has apologised to employees after a technical error meant that their wages were not transferred into their accounts before the weekend.
One woman, who works as a cleaner for Rentokil and lives in the Worcester area, said: "I think it's absolutely disgusting. I heard about it on the radio - our bosses haven't even bothered to get in touch. I was worried when I didn't get my payslip. Then when I heard the news, I checked my bank account and it had nothing in it.
"It will really mess up my weekend. I was going to do my shopping and pay some bills and now I haven't been paid I'll have to wait until they get their act together."
Other disgruntled workers from Worcestershire called the Worcester News to complain about the blunder, which has affected about 16,000 employees.
A spokesman for the company said all workers would be paid this week. "We would like to apologise to all of our employees who have been affected," he said. "A transmission error has meant that the BACS salary transfer from the company was not successfully completed, but this has been remedied and the money will be in our employees' bank accounts tomorrow.
"Employees who need to obtain funds should call their bank or building society and explain that they work for Rentokil and ask if they can have access to funds."
