GUESTS from as far afield as California were wined and dined at the Mayor's inaugural banquet.
Councillor Aubrey Tarbuck's sister-in-law, Patricia Harris and her husband Roy, flew in especially for Friday's event. The evening was a huge success and attended by more than 180 guests.
Coun Tarbuck said: "It was a fantastic evening and all of the guests assured me that they had a wonderful night.
"It will be an evening that will remain with me forever."
Russ Pender, managing director of Southco Europe, which has recently moved its headquarters to Warndon, Worcester, was the main speaker for the evening and had rearranged commitments in America to attend.
Coun Tarbuck added: "I was very honoured that he did that, it shows his commitment to Worcester and myself."
During the Mayor's speech at the event, in the city's Guildhall, he welcomed civic dignitaries, business leaders and family and friends.
"Here tonight, is the pick of Worcester, representatives of some of our brightest and most go-ahead companies," he said.
"I see Bosch, I see Cryoservice and I see one of our newest imports, Atkins, among a fine cross-section of all the names that are rejuvenating Worcester's reputation as a bright new industrial and business centre of excellence."
The guest list included 10 mayors from across Worcestershire and Herefordshire, 25 city councillors, and civic guests from the world of the business, voluntary and public sectors.
The Dean of Worcester, the Reverend Peter Marshall and Father Ian Pearson, of St Martin's Church, in the city centre also attended. They were entertained by a pianist throughout the meal and enjoyed a musical performance by singers, Collavoce.
