WHEELIE bins with electronic chips will soon be coming to a Worcester parish.
The bins, expected to be delivered to St Peter's next month, will deter the rodents, according to Worcester City councillor Roger Knight.
"One thing that it will do is deprive the rodent population of food. Currently, a huge number of bags are ripped open by cats and vermin," he said at St Peter's Parish Council meeting this week.
He added that residents would not be allowed to leave the bins on the roadside and that they would be electronically chipped to identify which property they belonged to.
He said that although the majority of residents wanted the bins, some had expressed concerns. He said that the location of some properties would make having a bin unpractical.
