WILL the nation ever tire of gloating over the Australians following the momentous Ashes victory?

Of course not.

Now in the latest of rubbing the Aussies' noses in it, the all-round performance of spin bowler and Droitwich resident Ashley "King Of Spain" Giles has been immortalised in a

set of special postage stamps.

The Royal Mail is to release four stamps to mark the historic win over Australia - the first in 18 years.

One of the stamps shows Giles bowling to an Australian batsman. The other three feature likenesses of the captain, Michael Vaughan, all-rounder Andrew Flintoff and batsman Kevin Pieterson, as well as other England players.

It will be the first time living people, other than the Royal Family, have had their likenesses on British stamps.

The stamps - two first class and two 68p overseas ones - will be issued on Thursday, October 6.

Yesterday, the Worcester News reported that the Warwickshire bowler is to receive a special citizen award from Droitwich mayor Coun Richard Morris.

A hand-written scroll will be presented to Giles at a ceremony due to be held on Friday, October 14, at the council chamber at St Richard's House, Victoria Square.
