LAST Sunday evening, parishioners and friends warmly welcomed The Rev. Nicky Seabright to the celebration of her first eucharist at Holy Trinity, Bosbury. On Monday, Bosbury bellringers successfully completed their peal to mark this special occasion, an excellent result for a dedicated team. Tower captain Frank Seabright is hoping to form a new team to ring at the other hop churches. Anyone interested in learning, please ring Frank on (01531) 640252.
Good news for village residents! In response to many requests from the public, the Post Office is hoping to erect a pillar box in front of the village shop. Subject to final details of siting, it could be installed before Christmas.
More good news. Planning permission for the improvements to the parish hall is expected soon. In the meantime, the committee has decided to buy new, comfortable chairs for the hall. The old chairs will be replaced as soon as possible, the number depending on the funds available. The parish council is making a donation towards the cost.
The next Flicks in the Sticks is Under the Tuscan Sun, based on Frances Mayes' memoir of the same name. It centres on a woman who buys a crumbling villa in Tuscany to recover from her divorce and is on Saturday, October 15, at 7.30pm at the parish hall.
Bosbury Players, directed by Robert Lane, will perform Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience from November 30 until Saturday, December 3. Tickets will be on sale shortly.
On Tuesday, October 4, at 7.30pm at the Old Boys School, there will be a talk by Mr J Tonkins on the buildings of Bosbury, a fascinating evening exploring the architectural heritage of the locality. One of those buildings, The Bell Inn, during the last few weeks has undergone major refurbishment and external repainting, enhancing this historical and much photographed village street.
At Holy Trinity, Bosbury, on Sunday, there will be an 11am service with baptism. Harvest festival is at 6.30pm on Friday, October 7, followed by a ceilidh and ploughman's supper at the parish hall.
