WARNDON ROVERS 1,
VILLAGERS FC 0
AFTER a good second-half performance the previous week, Villagers were looking to take the game to Warndon from the start of this Worcester Sunday League division three fixture.
This, however, was not the case as a much weakened side, missing five regulars and only having Paul Knivett, who was carrying an injury, in midfield from last week, found themselves under pressure from the kick-off.
Villagers' poor first-half performance reflected in the one chance they had in the 45 minutes when Wanklin shot straight into the goalkeeper's hands from the edge of the box.
Only some spirited defending from new signing Tom Smith prevented any score at half-time.
The second-half started in similar fashion and Warndon eventually took the lead following good work by striker Luke Adams, who set up an unmissable close range header.
This sparked a mini revival from the Villagers with Knivett working hard and Neil Morgan and Jamie Plant both coming close, but the equaliser would not come.
Man of the match was Tom Smith.
On Sunday, Villagers play the return fixture with Warndon at their home pitch at Powick and with players returning they are hopeful of a better result.
