MALVERN RADAR 1,
NEW AFC BARBOURNE 0
MALVERN Radar have struggled so far this season, losing their first four games and a number of key players from last year.
This was a welcome win in the Worcestershire FA County Cup against visitors Barbourne at Victoria Park.
Three former players have re-joined the team with Scott Senter, Rob Middleton and Trevor Bagnall all welcomed back and they all played well considering their lack of activity in the 11-a-side game.
Both keepers were in action early on with Radar's Steve Green racing out of his area to thwart Jon Weaver whilst at the other end Ady Brookes was kept busy dealing with a number of inswinging corners.
Both teams had good chances with Senter unfortunately treading on the ball in front of goal when he only needed to tap it into the net.
When Barbourne broke clear, Neil Bamford only had to square the ball to one of to team mates only for him to completely lose his footing without a Radar player in sight.
The only goal came on 65 minutes when Nick Ball's long pass was flicked on to Senter who confidently volleyed the ball in from a narrow angle.
There was plenty of effort from both teams in the closing stages although chances were at a premium and Radar held on comfortably to move into the next round.
The teams meet again at Victoria Park in a league fixture this Sunday, Radar players to meet at 9.45am.
