How disappointing to hear that after five years, both our local planners and our elected representatives on the planning committee have backed down over Lidl opening a store in Malvern Link?
Who really believes we need yet another supermarket in Malvern? Who can benefit from it, and more importantly, how many will suffer from the effects?
Malvern drastically needs new life injecting into it, as has been discussed on numerous occasions recently, but not more of the same! Malvern needs a rich diversity of businesses and retailers, more restaurants and more specialist individual shops, not just repetitions of typical high streets up and down the country. This prominent site could be developed into something far more imaginative than a supermarket, if only there was a change of attitude towards Malvern as a whole.
Boring, boring, boring is the only comment I have about the prospect!
