I READ the article in the Malvern Gazette re our councillors' decision to change, or was it 'improve', our refuse collection service by using wheelie bins for recycling and household waste on alternate weeks. Are they in the real world?
Collection of recycling fortnightly may be practical, but household waste? Already, with a weekly collection, in hot weather the refuse can smell, attract flies and many more unhygienic possibilities. Is this decision a done deal?
I am enclosing a photo taken in Caversham when visiting our son. Is this the view we want for Malvern? I might add this was Sunday and collection day is Thursday.
Many residents never bring in their bins from one week to the next. This makes it difficult to negotiate the footpaths both for families with pushchairs and pedestrians. The photo shows one bin per household.
Perhaps our elected councillors should think again. What is wrong with our current system?
