YOUNGSTERS held a noisy gathering in the park near Colwall Library.

Police received three calls from concerned residents on Friday night, who reported 20 youths running around and disturbing the peace.

After officers split up the group, it re-formed and police came out a second time to separate the youngsters and send them home.

The gathering was mentioned at a Colwall Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, where there was much debate about forming a youth council.

Some councillors supported the idea, while others wonder- ed if youngsters would be mature enough to hold formal meetings.

It was decided to ask youngsters if they wanted to form a youth council. Anyone interested, should contact Charlie Walker on 01684 541995.

Other business included concerns about Colwall Railway Bridge not being included in the provisional local transport plan. It was decided to write to Herefordshire Council about it.

The council decided to appoint a lengthsman to care for hedges and roadsides and co-opted a new councillor, Helen Stace, from Upper Colwall.

Parish clerk Charles Walker will again write to police about speed enforcement in the village.

Herefordshire Council has told the parish council that the Sunday 476 bus service from Ledbury to Great Malvern is under review. Parish councillors agreed to spread the 'use it or lose it' message around the village.

Malvern Hills Conservators' new warden Rob Hubbard attended the meeting and told councillors two new benches would be installed on Colwall Green and one in Evendine Lane.

The state of Colwall's trees was also discussed.
