IN the Worcestershire Golf Club ladies section past captain's alliance, Pat Fletcher, Jessica Paget and Suzanne Hamilton beat Barbara Wilkinson, Jenny Butler and Liz Bird by 83-82 points.
Recent medal and Stableford winners include June Jones with a net 67 to win the August medal and silver division from Jill Exell net 70. Helen Thomas won bronze division one and new golfer Alison Tuck won bronze division two. Sandra Schofield won the August Stableford and silver division with a superb 40 points, over Jill Piner and Veronica Shaw (39pts). Evelyn Hill (39pts) beat Alex Dunster on countback in bronze division one and Alison Tuck (38pts) won bronze division two from Jenny Butler. The Len Phipps Trophy saw a superb performance from junior golfer Vikki Lane to win the cup and silver division with 39 points, with Jill Exell second with 27 points. Pat Rose won bronze division one (37pts) from Debbie Houston and in bronze division two Zena Lloyd (37pts) beat Marina Marling.
In the September medal, Alison Tuck again showed her promise by winning bronze division two with a net 67, reducing her handicap from the maximum 36 to 32 within the space of one month. Second was Jenny Butler (net 72). Alex Dunster won bronze division one (net 72) on countback from Di Wilde. In silver division Janet Clowrey beat Jan Kirkland also on countback (net 74).
The club's thriving junior section, capably captained by John Wynn, played some excellent golf and proved too strong for the ladies in their match, which was followed by a meal in the clubhouse.
Meanwhile in the mixed knock-out tournament, Dr David Radley and his wife Julia met former club captain Garnet Scott and his wife Ruth, the current lady captain, in the final. Julia, in particular, was on sparkling form and the Radleys succeeded in taking the coveted rose bowls.
The losing semi-finalists were Brian and Linda Marsh and Andrew and Susie Bird.
