Theft means baby can't visit his dad in prison
A THREE-MONTH-OLD baby is unable to visit his father in prison - because thieves have stolen his mother's passport.
Nineteen-year-old mum, Laura Barker, is appealing for it to be returned because she cannot take baby, Keylun, to see her partner without it.
The passport - along with another passport belonging to Laura's twin sister Kaye and birth certificates and medical cards - were in the pocket of Keylun's pushchair when it was taken from outside their home in Park Street, Kidderminster.
Laura told the Shuttle/Times and News: "I can't go and see my boyfriend now or take my baby to see his dad because I need to have the passport and birth certificate."
The barmaid explained she needed to present the documents as formal identification when visiting her partner.
Her mother, Jackie Harden, added: "When we found out the pushchair had been stolen we were laughing at first, saying someone must have been hard up. But then we realised the certificates were in there.
"Now we need them back."
She said every week Laura and Keylun visited his dad who looked forward to seeing them.
She added: "Obviously we can get a replacement of Keylun's birth certificate but it isn't the same as having the original."
Twin Kaye is also unable to visit her boyfriend in prison following the theft.
The pushchair was taken from the house between 8am and 10am last Thursday.
It was a blue and green checked Mothercare pushchair with a broken hood. It was worth around £135.
A spokesman for Kidderminster police said: "The most concerning aspect of this incident is that passports, birth certificates and medical cards stored in a compartment of the pushchair were stolen.
"We are appealing for the safe return of these important documents and for anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to get in touch."
He added: "We want to remind people to take care when leaving items of this nature unattended and never to leave valuables of any type tucked in a hood or storage area - not even for a few moments."
Anyone with information on the theft should call Kidderminster police on 08457 444888.
