AN award-winning production of the Gilbert and Sullivan favourite The Mikado comes to Malvern next week.

Set in the Japanese court of Titipu, Gilbert and Sullivan's tale of love, marriage, executions and heroics provides some of their best-loved characters like Ko-Ko the Lord High Executioner, Pooh-Bah and Nanki Pooh as well as the Three Little Maids.

The Carl Rosa production celebrates The Mikado's 120th anniversary and features the original period costume designs from Gilbert's own Savoy production in 1885, as seen in the Oscar-winning film Topsy-Turvy.

With its 28 singers and full live orchestra, it runs from Monday to Saturday with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.

The Hollies play The Forum tomorrow with new songs, songs never performed on tour before as well as the old favourites like He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, Bus Stop and The Air That I Breathe.

Dance company Motionhouse moves in to premiere its new show, Perfect, on Tuesday and top comic Jethro comes next Thursday on his 30th anniversary tour.

Then next Saturday, October 8, the tone will be changing when the Jacques Loussier trio comes to town.

Loussier, famous for his arrangement of Bach's Air on a G String used in the Hamlet cigar adverts, has sold more than six million albums with his improvisations on the work of great composers.
