WOLVERLEY High School athlete Ashley Gibbs put in a five-star performance to become champion of the day at a multi-event competition in Banbury.

The 14-year-old Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club member set two personal bests and won two gold medals.

Athletes at the event are awarded stars for their level of performance with Gibbs getting the maximum five star award.

He set a long jump best of 5metres 3cm and a high jump best of 1-60 to take golds, while he also did well in the 800m.

His overall points record of 250 was just 25 short of the all-time record at the championships.

Gibbs will spend the winter training at the regional high jump centre in Solihull.

TWO Kidderminster & Stourport Athletics Club members smashed their personal bests at the Lichfield 10K Road Race.

Dave Hunt who only took up running 18 months ago, finished the race in 38 minutes 25 seconds and was 34th overall.

Jaqui Phillips finished the race as the third lady with a pb time of 39-50.
