WE felt we had to express our opinion about the ridiculous proposal to make all Kidderminster taxi drivers replace their cabs.
We are carers and have two wheelchair-reliant persons in our care. However we would not assume that every cab would have to be wheelchair-accessible.
There is obviously a need for a wheelchair-friendly service, but it is not necessary for every cab to be accessible. The local taxi companies will send a wheelchair-accessible cab, if requested to do so.
The cost of replacing all these cabs would, surely, be prohibitive, therefore forcing up the price of cab fares in the Wyre Forest area.
We are frequent users of cabs, and we can honestly say that they are maintained in an excellent condition.
Why is the district council trying to put people out of work? We are on the side of the drivers.
