BEWDLEY Town manager Craig Payton has been left fuming by his Jekyll and Hyde team's performances in the West Midland League Premier Division.

They followed up their impressive 3-1 win over Goodrich last Wednesday with a poor 2-0 defeat to lower table Brierley & Hagley.

Defensive errors were to blame for the loss with Richard Perry firing home for Brierley after Bewdley failed to clear a corner and Dane Knowles adding a second when Town did not deal with a cross.

The result was all the more galling for boss Payton after watching his side climb to fourth just days earlier by beating Goodrich with their best football of the season.

A brace from Lewis Pountney and a strike from Chris Hough applied the gloss to a sublime display - even though it was marred by poor refereeing decisions.

Good-rich's James Roberts was sent off for taking issue with the man in the middle before Jamie Hart was also red-carded in the dying seconds for dissent.

Bewdley slid down the table to ninth following Saturday's defeat.

They entertain Wednesfield on Saturday followed by an away clash at Goodrich on Wednesday.

l Bewdley reserves visit Wednesbury, the side they were supposed to play last weekend, this Saturday.

Despite their break from Division Two action, influential midfielder Neil Osborne is still another two weeks away from overcoming his ankle ligaments injury.
