TWO of the Vale's most prestigious addresses have been put on the housing market - but only multi-millionaires need apply.

Middle Littleton Manor, three miles from Evesham, a 17th Century Grade 2 listed building is being offered by sale by Andrew Grant, with a guide price of £1.25m.

And going for twice that amount is Bretferton Manor which largely dates back to 1605 and which has been placed on the market by Hamptons.

Middle Littleton Manor, which occupies a prominent position close to the Parish Church of St Nicholas, was built in the mid-1600s, together with the medieval Tithe Barn which has been restored to its former glory by the Pilgrim Trust and the Historic Building Council.

Additional rear wings were built onto the manor house in the late 18th century.

Bretferton Manor is set in the centre of the village, close to the church and is alleged to be haunted by the ghost of a monk. Other reports have alluded to an 18th century funeral cortege being seen making its way through the grounds towards the nearby churchyard.

One of the architectural highlights of the manor is the 400-year-old panelling which disappeared during renovation work a few years ago. Amazingly, a local resident spotted it in a reclamation yard in Oxfordshire and recognised it. It was returned and reinstated during the renovation.

The property is roughly ranged in an E shape and there are also a number of architecturally important outbuildings including the 17th century thatched cider house, a stone dovecote of the same era, an aviary, a rare apiary and extremely old village stocks, possibly 14th century and protected by a stone tiled roof.

The Manor is set in 7.3 acres of private grounds. The guide price for the property is £2.5 million.
