STOURPORT are sitting pretty in second in North Midlands South Two after continuing their excellent start to the season with a 16-5 victory at Birmingham Exiles.
They opened the scoring after a flowing move from their own 22 was halted when an opponent deliberately killed the ball under the Exiles' posts and Rob Humphries converted the penalty.
They continued to be positive in possession and excellent play from centres Andy Gaskill and Steve MacDonald led to winger Anton Cronje scoring an unconverted try.
The Exiles gave Stourport a timely warning just before half time when they crossed the visitor's line to end the half just three points behind at 8-5 down.
The second half was close but with 10 minutes remaining Stourport flanker Phil Randell finished off a fine move with a try near the corner flag.
With spirits raised Stourport pressed forward and following another transgression by the Exiles, Humphries kicked a second penalty to seal victory.
They will be hoping to make it three out of three when they host midtable Dudley Wasps on Saturday.
In the second round of the Powergen Junior Vase, Stourport's reward for beating Bromyard is a home clash against Leek on Saturday October 15.
l Stourport seconds were in fine form as they hammered Malvern thirds 53-3 despite falling behind to an early penalty.
